The D-41 offers the extra ornamentation and premium selection of woods that typifies Martin's prestigious 40's series. Over 100 pieces of colorful abalone are hand-fitted to the top perimeter and rosette. Eight abalone hexagons are used as position markers in the bound ebony fingerboard. The headstock is inlaid with the traditional "C.F. Martin" block letters, also in abalone. Gold enclosed tuning machines, multi-colored "45-style" mosaic backstrip, tortoise pickguard and polished low-profile neck complete the appointments. Tonally, the D-41 is comparable to the D-45. Hand-scalloped bracing combined with superior tonewoods produce a deep, clear and very resonant sound. With its elegant good looks and moderate price, the D-41 is among Martin's best values in top-of-the-line guitars.
