The Electro Harmonix Germanium 4 Big Muff Pi is EH's latest Big Muff creation, and will blow your mind with its functionality, massive sound, and tonal diversity. This is a vintage voiced dual channel distortion unit that will ring loud and proud on your board with its rich and warm germanium transistors. The Germanium 4 Big Muff Pi is two independent circuits - one is an overdrive and the other is a distortion and both have two independent controls. These two circuits can be used separate or together for massive effect. Germanium is a classic old school transistor used to incredible effect on classic recordings of the 60's and 70's. Get that old school feel in the 21st century. The Distortion channel precedes the overdrive channel in the chain, and can be adjusted through a bias control that adjusts the signal's character. So go from mellow and compressed to edgy and aggressive with a turn of the knob. The Volts control adjusts the amount of voltage to the Distortion side. So you can also go from a dying battery tone to extreme clipping – add some other EH effects and run wild with creativity. The Overdrive side goes from a sweet fat boost to a super warm overdrive feel. The Overdrive channel has a tone control that will emphasize high or low frequencies. This massive, monstrous Big Muff is a true sonic terrorizer, but it can also give you warm germanium boost tones. With two channels, and plenty of tonal shaping options, EH sets a standard for dual channel stompboxes. Old school germanium transistors are something special. Their characteristic warmth and richness ooze over many classic recordings. Now Electro-Harmonix gives you two germanium powered overdrive tones in one massive stompbox. The Electro-Harmonix Germanium 4 Big Muff Pi can go from warm boost signals to punishing dying battery sickness with some creative tweaking.
